Well, it's Day 5 of my Staycation-in-Leslieville, and today I decided to do take-out lunch from Sophie. This is a new-ish little cafe/bistro at the corner of Logan and Queen. My great fortune was to have chosen one of the specialty quiches - roasted red pepper with goat cheese - with an accompanying salad. Must say, the quiche was delicious and fresh - rich (but light at the same time - how can that be??) a piquant blend of sweet and savory on a superb crust - flaky, and not salty. Side salad was crispy and flavourful, full of surprising little gems to tease your tastebuds, but not too avant-garde. After all, this sister is new in town, and I'm sure she's aiming to please her eclectic neighbours, not send them running for the nearest squat and gobble. I imagine we'll see more experimentation down the road - once Sophie has deeper traction. Check her out!

I'd like to second the positive words for Sophie. I too was taken by the quiche (cauliflower and leek), having steeled myself for a lackluster crust. Not so! All around delicious, with an excellent side salad and pleasant but unobtrusive service. Looking forward to a followup visit!
