Excellent point, my friend!

Sure its a neighbourhood. It just ain't Leslievile. (Well, maybe between Dundas and Gerrard would be). Its not about numbers of blocks. Its about the reality of the streetscape - a continous community with unifying characteristics (which ofcourse do…

(Also re; Scotch Egg's comment) No way - those sound like the convenience of mapmakers / BIA bureaucrats. The neighbourhood reality is much different. I say "Leslieville' as a distinct community is approx. the area I outlined above. Or is 'Leslievil…

Since when is Coxwell Ave area considered Leslieville? Any opinions out there what the 'borders' of Leslieville are? I vote for Greenwood to the CNR tracks at Degrassi, and Dundas to Lakeshore.

I will try to attend as well. Running that many streetcars up and down Leslie would be awful for this neighbourhood! Note Paula Fletcher is on the record (in one of the community papers) supporting this plan. I assume she will be at the meeting - ma…

While its always good to be vigilant, Im not sure the alarm bells are warranted here, if it was the same sales crew that came by our house last night. I too pretty much never give salespeople at my door the time of day, but in this case the offering…

Nancy, every once in a while, I'll be outside in the summertime, gardening, pulling weeds, whatever. I'll get hungry, without reason. And then realize that it's the faint smell of fresh bread baking that's doing it. Only happens occasionally: the wi…

I'm glad it's not closing because I love the smell. I love driving home late summer nights with the car windows open, and the aroma of fresh baked bread wafts through the car. I hope for a red light so I can stop and savour it. I often wonder if the…

Whew, what relief! I think Canada Bread has a plant in the west end -- can see it from the highway.

Whups, on further review Robin is correct. False alarm, sorry about that!

Canada Bread does not own the bakery on Eastern Avenue - Weston Bakeries does. So the Canada Bread closures will not affect the Eastern Ave plant

Weston bakery to be closed?

Looks like the much-loved neighbourhood institution the Weston bakery at Eastern and Logan will be closed (see paragraph 55, below) . A shame - I think we all love the wonderful smell of baking bread wafting over our neighbourhood - beats the odour of the sewage treatment plant! Any bets on how soon condos / townhouses spring up at that location?
